Madden 23 - Injury Timeline
This is the biggest one for me. It sort of aligns with the injury variety. Like I said I'm happy that they have done something about injuries however I'm not a big fan of the method they've used to do it. I'm not happy with the idea that there is always a period of 2 weeks before a player's scheduled to return that there is a chance to use him. This doesn't seem realistic or dynamic and takes all the excitement out of managing injuries. This is what I'd like to propose as a timeline for injuries:
Injury to a player If a player gets injured, he/she falls or is taken off the field, and you're informed when you observe him leave the field.
Initial diagnosis - Shortly after the player is out of the field (also is contingent on the degree of the injury; the more severe, the longer the wait) you will receive a brief description of the area of his body has been injured as well as the extent of the injury instead of the exact injury. If it's an injury that is not serious which is expected to return, the exact injury may be discussed together with any possible associated reductions i.e. dislocated finger ready to go back to play, 4 CTH While a more severe illustration would be lower leg injury, out.
Post-Game Diagnosis - Following the game, the player is "re-evaluated" and you'll receive an update on the particular injury and recovery time and the timeline to return. If the player is able to participate in your game in the future, he's likely have a greater likelihood of having the injury less severe , however, based on the condition, there's the possibility that he will be unable to practice for some weeks. In the case of more severe injuries, you will receive the same kind of assessment and the maximum amount of time that he will be out.
Recovery - When the minimum amount of time that a player can be out of the game is reached then the player goes into the recovery section which is when the player is designated as uncertain or doubtful. Each one of these designations has an associated reduction depending on the injury and the designation. Doubtful has the highest severity reductions, while the range of doubtable is to a little more severe at the top end and little to no reductions at the lower range. The most important thing to remember is that even with some of the most minor injuries, athletes still need to undergo some kind of recovery time which means that even if a athlete is injured but is still able to play but isn't completely recovered for a couple of weeks. Long-term, more serious injuries will likely skip the recovery procedure and will have the benefit of a timetable that is more precise for return to ensure that the athlete is 100 100% when returning, however they might also return with a 90% or higher level to simulate shedding some of the rust. Another thing that can be accomplished by making a decision about the time a player is practicing during the week when the player is suffering from an injury, which creates some kind of risk-reward interaction. Do you encourage for him, and then try to earn all XP, while taking the risk of a setback to an injury? Do you let him sit and only earn just half of XP in order to place him in the most optimal position for playing this week?
