Diablo 2 gets first major update in 11 years, and fixes some bugs from 20 years ago
Blizzard Entertainment released an important update to Diablo 2: Resurrected on Thursday. This update introduced sweeping balance changes and fixed many issues in the traditional Click-and-Kill action-RPG. Update 2.4 is available for Diablo 2:
Resurrected will be the biggest balance overhaul to the game in over 11 years. It also addresses some horrible glitches that users have encountered since the game's launch in 2000.
There are two long-running issues with Diablo 2 that would have completely destroyed the mana of your character, rendering certain classes invulnerable or dealing excessive damage, specifically, monsters that can be enchanted with fire.
From Blizzard's detailed patch notes:
Corrected an issue that was causing problems. Unique monster packs that had mana drain were draining far more mana than what was planned.
Fix an issue where monsters with fire were causing more damage than they should in Nightmare difficulty
Diablo 2: Resurrected developers declared last year that they would like to fix bugs similar to the ones above, and the unexpected consequences of incorrect calculations within the game's programming which have long been a source of frustration for players. Andre Abrahamian, former game designer at Blizzard Entertainment and the lead designer of Diablo 2: Resurrected, spoke during a Q&A discussion that his team responsible for the development for the Diablo 2 remaster wanted to correct "things that mislead gamers," and leave "quirks" which could be beneficial to players or become part of the metagame as it is.
